The Hatfield Clan of the Hatfield McCoy feud. - The picture was taken in 1897 and appeared in the Iowa State Press dated February 11, 1899. The headline read "In a Careless Moment Devil Anse Allowed It to be Taken. -- The Hatfields Wrecked the Photographer's Establishment."

SpaceX Dragon spacecraft
SpaceX is developing a family of launch vehicles intended to reduce the cost and increase the reliability of access to space ultimately by a factor of ten. Their design and manufacturing facilities are located in Southern California, near the Los Angeles airport, and their propulsion development and structural test facilities are located in Central Texas.
With the Falcon 1, Falcon 5 and Falcon 9 launch vehicles, SpaceX is able to offer light, medium and heavy lift capabilities. They are able to deliver spacecraft into any inclination and altitude, from low Earth orbit to geosynchronous orbit to planetary missions.
The Falcon 9 is intended to be a fully reusable, 2 stage launch vehicle powered by LOX/RP engines. The first stage generates 765,0001bf of thrust (sea-level) using nine Merlin 1C engines, and the second stage generates 96,0001bf (vacuum) using a single Merlin 1C engine. Both stages use gimbaled engines for guidance. Like some vehicles in the Apollo program, Falcon 9 offers engine-out capability (for the first stage).
The Dragon spacecraft has a flexible cargo and crew configuration and is recoverable. Pressurized cargo will be transported inside the capsule while unpressurized cargo will be located in the “trunk.” The crew configuration will be able to accommodate up to 7 crew members per flight.
Besides containing all the functions required to support crew or pressurized cargo, Dragon also contains much of which might be found in a typical "service module", including reaction control thrusters, GN&C, command & data handling, telemetry & communications, ISS proximity operations sensors, power & thermal control, entry, descent, landing, locator & emergency equipment and environmental control and life support sub-systems. The Dragon spacecraft design is structurally identical for both the cargo and crew configurations, the only difference being the internal outfitting and some subsystems. For cargo launches the inside of the capsule is outfitted with a modular cargo rack system designed to accommodate pressurized cargo in standard sizes and form factors based on the Space Shuttle Mid-deck Locker Equivalent specifications. For crewed launches, the interior is outfitted with crew couches, controls with manual override capability and upgraded life support. Keeping the cargo and crewed versions of Dragon similar minimizes the design effort.
The basic configuration for each launch is that at the top of the stack is the Dragon spacecraft. Below this is an unpressurized sleeve (the 'trunk') which serves to support the pressurized capsule during ascent and also contains a truss structure designed to hold unpressurized cargo.
After berthing with the ISS and delivering cargo or crew, Dragon is re-loaded with crew or down-cargo. Once reloaded, Dragon is un-berthed, departs the ISS and performs a de-orbit bum, jettisons the unpressurized section, and performs a guided re-entry and splash-down under parachute. SpaceX will perform ocean recovery, delivering crew and/or cargo to NASA.

Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) Great Serbian-Croatian inventor (later nationalized American), pioneered concept of Alternating Current, the system of electricity used throughout the world.
Publicity photo of Nikola Tesla sitting in his laboratory in Colorado Springs in December 1899. Photo was taken by Dickenson V. Alley, photographer at the Century Magazines. The laboratory was built in 1899. Tesla sent a copy of this photograph to Sir William Crookes in England in 1901.
This image is a Multiple exposure. The photo is cited as a double exposure by Carl Willis and Marc Seifer. Tesla's Colorado Springs notes identify the photo as a double exposure. To give an idea of the magnitude of the discharge the experimenter is sitting slightly behind the "extra coil". I did not like this idea but some people find such photographs interesting. Of course, the discharge was not playing when the experimenter was photographed, as might be imagined!
Conversely a copy of the original photograph was collected by Leland I. Anderson who sold the collection to Tesla Wardenclyffe Project. They now claim copyright. Note that the version in that archive includes a hand written note added in 1901 printing which doesn't appear on the more widely available image.

Cessna 402 C from "Wings" TV series FREE COLOR IMAGE. The Cessna 401 and 402 are series of 6 to 10 place, light twin, piston engine aircraft. This line was manufactured by Cessna from 1966 to 1985 under the name Utiliner and Businessliner.
The series "Wings" takes place primarily at the fictional Nantucket airport Tom Nevers Field. Until 1976, the real-life island was the site of the United States Navy's Tom Nevers Naval Facility, later the home of the Nantucket Hunting Association. The Club Car (a real restaurant on Nantucket) is also often featured on the show.
The airplane for the show was a 1981 Cessna 402C one of which was C/N 402C0507 #N121PB, still flying with Cape Air.;

William Ross Wallace
William Ross Wallace was born at Lexington, Ky., in 1819. He practiced law in New York after 1841, and contributed occasionally for magazines. He died at New York, May 5, 1881. Wallace had the sense of literary patriotism and the gift of rhetoric, rather than natural poetic inspiration. His poems, however, are in their way praiseworthy. Among them, Of Thine Own Country Sing is characterized by its breadth and vigor of treatment, by the clear and well-proportioned presentation of his theme. This piece recalls some of the shorter poems of Coleridge.
"The Hand That Rocks The Cradle Is The Hand That Rules The World" is a poem by William Ross Wallace that praises motherhood as the preeminent force for change in the world. The poem was first published in 1865 under the title "What Rules The World".

Bishop Henry McNeal Turner
Henry McNeal Turner (February 1, 1834–May 8, 1915) was a bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. During the American Civil War he was appointed a Chaplain to one of the first Federal regiments of black troops (Company B of the First United States Colored Troops). Turner was the first of only 14 black Chaplains to be appointed during the Civil War and the first colored man that was ever made a commissioned officer in the United States Army. . This appointment came directly from President Abraham Lincoln in 1863.
Following the Civil War he became steadily more disenchanted with the lack of progress in the status of the country's African-Americans. During this time he moved to the state of Georgia. It was here that he became involved in Radical Republican politics. He helped found the Republican Party of Georgia.
Bishop H. M. Turner, D. D., LL. D., D. C. L., was born near Newbury Court House, South Carolina, February 1, 1833 or 1834. His mother's maiden name was Sarah Greer, the youngest daughter of David Greer, who was brought to this country when a boy and sold in Charleston, S. C. Greer was the son of an African king. His father, the African king, sent seven African slaves for the return of his son, but the captain of the slave ship dying before he returned, the son received his freedom when South Carolina was still under British rule, upon the ground that Royal blood could not be enslaved. Henry McNeal Turner was the oldest son of Hardy Turner and Sarah Greer Turner.
Henry grew up on the cotton fields of South Carolina, and when eight or nine years old he dreamed he was on a high mountain and millions of people were looking up at him for instruction, white and colored. He then procured a spelling book and commenced to learn to read and write, to prepare to give that vast multitude instruction. He got a white boy to teach him his alphabet and how to spell to three syllables. By this time he was large enough to wait in a law office at Abbeville Court House, S. C. The young lawyers took great pleasure in giving him instruction in their leisure moments for pastime. He gained a respectable knowledge of history, arithmetic, geography, astronomy and some other branches, but would not study grammar, as he thought he could talk well enough without a knowledge of grammar.

The Herd Boy laid down her clothes, and went on ahead. The Weaving Maiden drew them on and followed him. And thus they became man and wife. But after seven days she took leave of him.
"The Buler of Heaven has ordered me to look after my weaving," said she. "If I delay too long I fear that he will punish me. Yet, although we have to part now, we will meet again in spite of it."
When she had said these words she really went away. The Herd Boy ran after her. But when he was quite near she took one of the long needles from her hair and drew a line with it right across the sky, and this line turned into the Silver River. And thus they now stand, separated by the River, and watch for one another.
And since that time they meet once every year, on the eve of the Seventh Day. When that time comes, then all the crows in the world of men come flying and form a bridge over which the Weaving Maiden crosses the Silver River. And on that day you will not see a single crow in the trees, from morning to night, no doubt because of the reason I have mentioned. And besides, a fine rain often falls on the evening of the Seventh Day. Then the women and old grandmothers say to one another: "Those are the tears which the Herd Boy and the Weaving Maiden shed at parting!'' And for this reason the Seventh Day is a rain festival.
