Humorous Signs of the Zodiac

THE SIGNS OF THE ZODIAC. These may be divided into north and south. The first six, from Aries to Virgo, are northern; the latter six, from Libra to Pisces, are southern: this is because the Sun and planets, when in the first six, are north of the equator, and when in the last six they are south of that line. When the Sun is in northern signs he is longer above the Earth than below, and the days are longer than the nights; when he is in the southern signs, he remains longer below the horizon than above, and the nights are longer than the days.

Of course, when any planet is in a mirth sign it remains longer above the Earth than below; and, vice versa, when it is in a south sign its stay is longer below the Earth.

Each point of the zodiac rises and sets once every twentyfour hours, occasioned by the earth turning round on its axis once every day; therefore, when any given point be rising, the opposite point must be setting.

As the zodiac consists of 360 degrees from the first point of Aries until you come to that point again, and as these are divided into twelve portions or signs, they must consist of thirty degrees each.

Signs of the Zodiac. In a former number of the Museum, I have told you about the "Zodiac, but as I wish to make ou remember all about it, I will just give you Mr. Cruickshanks' notions on the subject. ~e is a merry fellow in London, and thus he draws the twelve signs, in his sportive humor :—

It is found that each of these signs, when it rises at the birth of an individual, possesses a certain influence to produce a particular form of body, and some peculiar mental inclinations. There is no reason to suppose, however, that the influence of Aries, or any other sign, proceeds merely from that sign alone; but it is more probable that when that sign is rising, tlie whole face of the heavens is such as to produce a certain effect. This may be caused as much by the distant stars in the milky way (that large shining band seen in the heavens on a fine night, which consists of innumerable millions of stars, and of which our Sun is supposed to be one) as by any others. In fact, Ptolemy speaks of these effects being produced by the "ambient," which means the entire of the heavens, and not the ascending sign alone.

Pisces (astrology) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pisces is an astrological sign, which is associated with the constellation Pisces. Under the tropical zodiac, Pisces is occupied by the Sun from February 20 to March 20, and under the sidereal zodiac, it is currently from March 15 to April 13. The opposite sign to Pisces is Virgo.

Pisces is the twelfth and last sign of the Zodiac and associated with human emotions. Individuals born under this sign are thought to be dreamy, romantic, humorous, generous, emotional, receptive, affectionate, and have an honest character, but are also prone to exaggeration, fickleness, passiveness, hypersensitivity, and paranoia. Pisceans are said to like mystery and solitude to dream in. Pisces is said by some astrologers to possess the qualities of all the previous eleven Signs of the Zodiac. In terms of anatomy, Pisces is said to rule the feet, liver, and lymphatics. In terms of geography, Pisces is linked with Portugal, Spain, Scandinavia, and Egypt.

Physically, individuals born under the sign of Pisces supposedly tend to have small and dainty feet, heavy-lidded and liquid eyes, a tall stature, and a broad physique.

Pisces is traditionally thought to be ruled by the planet Jupiter, but in more recent years many astrologers have labeled Neptune as the ruler or co-ruler of Pisces, attributing the dreaminess associated with the Sign to the planet's influence.

Aquarius (astrology), From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aquarius is an astrological sign, which is associated with the constellation Aquarius. Under the tropical zodiac, Aquarius is occupied by the Sun from January 20 to February 19, and under the sidereal zodiac, it is currently from February 13 to March 14.

In some cosmologies, Aquarius is associated with the classical element Air, and thus called an Air Sign (with Libra and Gemini). It is also one of the four Fixed signs (along with Leo, Scorpio, and Taurus). Its polar opposite is Leo. It is the domicile of Saturn (since its discovery Uranus has been considered Aquarius' ruling or co-ruling planet by many modern astrologers). Each astrological sign is assigned a part of the body, viewed as the seat of its power. Aquarius rules the circulatory system as well as the ankles. The symbol for Aquarius is the water bearer.

Aquarius is the eleventh sign of the Zodiac and associated with future ideas and the unusual. Individuals born under this sign are thought to have a modest, creative, challenging, inquisitive, entertaining, progressive, stimulating, nocturnal, and independent character, but one which is also prone to rebelliousness, coldness, erraticism, indecisive, and impracticality. In terms of anatomy, Aquarius is said to rule the legs from knees to ankles and the circulation of blood. In terms of geography Aquarius is linked with Greece, Sweden, United States, Ethiopia and Poland.

Capricorn (astrology), From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Capricorn is an astrological sign, which is associated with the constellation Capricornus. Under the tropical zodiac, Capricorn is occupied by the Sun from December 22 to January 19, and under the sidereal zodiac, it is currently from January 15 to February 12. The opposite sign to Capricorn is Cancer.

Capricorn is the tenth sign of the Zodiac and associated with hard work and business affairs. Individuals born under this sign are thought to have an ambitious, modest, patient, responsible, stable, trustworthy, perspicacious and persistent character but one which is also prone to coldness, conservatism, rigidity, materialism, and dullness. Capricorn is often depicted as having the lower half of a fish. This is due to Capricorn's antiquated classification as a Water sign (sea-goat), while modern astrology holds that Capricorn is indubitably an Earth sign.

In terms of anatomy, Capricorn is said to rule the knees, bones, and skin. Physically, individuals born under the sign of Capricorn supposedly tend to have curly and dark hair, steady eyes, a dark complexion, capable hands, and prominent cheekbones.
