Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Police Interceptor (often referred to simply as CVPI) is the law enforcement version of the 1999 and later Ford Crown Victoria. Though the name has only been officially in use for the car starting in 1999, the current major design of the car has been the same since the year before, 1998. The 1979–91 full-size LTDs and LTD Crown Victorias and 1992 updated body style prior to 1993 used the P72 Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) code for both fleet/taxi and police models (only used for one model year for the newer style body in 1992).

From 1993–1998, the police car models of Crown Victorias were officially known as Crown Victoria P71s. Starting in 1999, the Crown Victoria equipped with the P71 package has been given the official name of Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. It is one of the most widely-used automobiles in North American police departments, and due to the "heavy duty" nature of the vehicle, is also used by many taxi companies. Since Chevrolet dropped the rear-drive Caprice, Ford has had a near-monopoly on the market for police cruisers because of a preference for V8 powered rear-drive cars in North America.

Ambulance From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An ambulance is a vehicle for transporting sick or injured people, to, from or between places of treatment for an illness or injury. The term ambulance is used to describe a vehicle used to bring medical care to patients outside of the hospital and when appropriate, to transport the patient to hospital for follow-up care and further testing. In some jurisdictions there is a modified form of the ambulance used, that only carries one member of ambulance crew to the scene to provide care, but is not used to transport the patient. In these cases a patient who requires transportation to hospital will require a patient-carrying ambulance to attend in addition to the fast responder.

Fire apparatus From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The turntable ladder, sometimes abbreviated to simply TL is the best-known form of specialised fire appliance (sometimes known as a fire truck), and is used to gain access to fires occurring at height, where conventional ladders carried on other appliances might not reach. Also known as an Aerial Ladder.

The name is derived from the fact that the large ladder is mounted on a turntable on the back of a truck or lorry, allowing it to pivot around a stable base, which in turn allows a much greater ladder length to be achieved). In order to increase its length, the ladder is telescopic. Almost all modern turntable ladders are hydraulic or pneumatic in operation. A ladder also can be mounted behind the cab. This is called "mid ship". This arangement allows a shorter wheel base for truck, and also can be more stable in certain conditions.

The turntable ladder units replaced the stand alone wheel mounted long ladders which were prevalent on fire engines before the widespread use of hydraulics.

While the traditional division of a 'fire truck' was a lack of water pumping or storage, many modern turntable ladders have a water pumping function to them (and some have their own on board supply reservoir or tank), and may have a pre-piped waterway running the length of the ladder, to allow the firefighters at the top a stream of water. In some cases, there may also be a monitor at the top of the ladder for ease of use. Other appliances may simply have a trackway which will hold a manually run hose reel securely, and prevent it from falling to the ground.

Some turntable ladders may have a basket or bucket mounted at the top of the ladder, as on a hydraulic platform, and these are called tower ladders. These can provide a secure place for a firefighter to operate equipment from, and alow multible rescues of people.

The turntable ladder may be known as a quad or quint, and is capable of performing multiple tasks. These trucks have an aerial device and ground ladders, but also have a pump and a water tank.

Ferrari 328 From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ferrari 328 GTB/GTS was the successor to the Ferrari 308. While largely based on the 308, small modifications were made to the body style and engine. The engine displacement bumped up to 3.2 L (3185 cc). 7,400 328 Ferraris were produced by the time the model was replaced in 1989 by the new 348, bringing the total for the 308/328 generation to nearly 20,000.

In 1985, the 328 retailed from $58,400-$62,500 ($110,916 in 2005 dollars) in the United States. This price included a gas-guzzler tax.

The Ferrari 328 uses a 3.2 litre V8, 4 Valve per cylinder layout. It has 270 HorsePower and 231 lbs/ft of torque. Its top speed is 166 mph and reaches 60 mph in 5.5 seconds and 100 in 13.00 making it a very fast car.

The front and rear suspension are independent, double wishbones, with coil springs, telescopic dampers, and anti-roll bars. The steering is rack and pinion. The transmission is a 5-speed manual.
