Buckwheat, west Humboldt (Eriogonum anemophilum Greene), Symbol: ERAN8, Group: Dicot, Family: Polygonaceae, Growth Habit: Forb/herb, Duration: Perennial, U.S. Nativity: Native View 30 genera in Polygonaceae, 221 species in Eriogonum Wind-loving wild buckwheat. Found in limestone outcrops on the West Humboldt Range of Pershing Co., Nevada. The species belongs to a group of closely related, perennials found mainly in the Intermountain West. The species may be characterized by its cream-white, orange, yellow tinted flowers as we see in our example. the leaf-blades vary in shape and outline. The plant can be found at elevations to (ca. 2600 m), however most populations are found much lower (to 1450 m) where the plants occur on volcanic outcrops on the edges of mountain ranges in central Nevada.
