Title: 11. PUMP HOUSE AND WEIGHING ROOM Fish were pumped from floating hoppers, to the pump house (on the far right). From there they were either lifted by conveyor belt to the weighing room (top center) and thence to the holding tanks, or were washed through sealers, weighed and then sluiced to holding tanks.

The process used depended upon the type and size of fish. The square cement vat (center) was to be a settling tank from which fish oil, reclaimed from the reduction process, was to be pumped into the round metal tank (above the vat). This process however, was never fully utilized before the sardines ran out. - Hovden Cannery, 886 Cannery Row, Monterey, Monterey County, CA

Ghost rockets Flying Saucers Extraterrestrial Origins

Ghost rockets Flying Saucers Extraterrestrial Origins 1948 Top Secret USAF UFO extraterrestrial document.

February 26, 1946 – Finnish observers report the first of many thousands of sightings of ghost rockets.

"For some time we have been concerned by the recurring reports on flying saucers. They periodically continue to pop up; during the last week, one was observed hovering over Neubiberg Air Base for about thirty minutes. They have been reported by so many sources and from such a variety of places that we are convinced that they cannot be disregarded and must be explained on some basis which is perhaps slightly beyond the scope of our present intelligence thinking.

"When officers of this Directorate recently visited the Swedish Air Intelligence Service, this question was put to the Swedes. Their answer was that some reliable and fully technically qualified people have reached the conclusion that 'these phenomena are obviously the result of a high technical skill which cannot be credited to any presently known culture on earth'. They are therefore assuming that these objects originate from some previously unknown or unidentified technology, possibly outside the earth".

Ghost rockets Flying Saucers Extraterrestrial Origins

"In their opinion the observation was reliable and they believe the depression on the floor of the lake which did not appear on current hydrographic charts was in fact caused by a flying saucer

although accepting this theory of these objects poses a whole new group of questions and puts much of our thinking in a changed light we are inclined not to discredit entirely this somewhat spectacular theory maintain keeping an open mind on the subject"

The Berlin Wall

With the closing of the East-West sector boundary in Berlin, the vast majority of East Germans could no longer travel or emigrate to West Germany. Many families were split, while East Berliners employed in the West were cut off from their jobs. West Berlin became an isolated exclave in a hostile land. West Berliners demonstrated against the wall, led by their Mayor (Oberbürgermeister) Willy Brandt,

On exhibit at The New York Public Library For The Performing Arts: Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center, Ladies and Gentlemen...The Beatles! The Beatles---John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, collectively referred to as the 'The Fab 4' by their adoring fans, made their first trip to the U.S.A. on Friday, February 7, 1964, arriving at JFK International Airport. The NYPL exhibit consists of artifacts, videos, photographs, audio, a recording booth for fans to share their recollections of the second 'British invasion', and inter-active instructional videos for fans to have a go at giving a drum-kit the Ringo Starr back-beat beat.

Bob Bonis was The Beatles' U.S. tour manager from 1964-1966. Bonis had unlimited access to The Beatles, a passion for photography and had his LeicaM3 at the ready to get great snaps of the 'Fab4'.

The Beatles' first U.S. television performances occurred on three consecutive Sundays on The Ed Sullivan Show in February 1964 to great anticipation and fanfare as "I Want to Hold Your Hand" had swiftly risen to No. 1 in the charts. Their first appearance on February 9 is considered a milestone in American pop culture and the beginning of the British Invasion in music.

The broadcast drew an estimated 73 million viewers, at the time a record for US television. The Beatles followed Ed's show opening intro, performing "All My Loving"; "Till There Was You", which featured the names of the group members superimposed on closeup shots, including the famous "Sorry girls, he's married" caption on John Lennon; and "She Loves You".

The act that followed Beatles in the broadcast was pre-recorded, rather than having someone perform live on stage amidst the pandemonium that occurred in the studio after the Beatles performed their first songs. The group returned later in the program to perform "I Saw Her Standing There" and "I Want to Hold Your Hand."

Created by The GRAMMY Museum® at L.A. LIVE and Fab Four Exhibits, Ladies and Gentlemen…The Beatles! will be on display at The New York Public Library For The Performing Arts: Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center, until May 10, 2014. Admission is free.

Since the 19th century, handwritten notes have given way to mass-produced greeting cards. In the UK, just under half of the population spend money on their Valentines and around 1.3 billion pounds are spent yearly on cards, flowers, chocolates and other gifts, with an estimated 25 million cards being sent.

In the second half of the 20th century, the practice of exchanging cards was extended to all manner of gifts. Such gifts typically include roses and chocolates packed in a red satin, heart-shaped box.

Valentine's Day Toy Story Cat

Valentine's Day Toy Story Cat. Public Domain ClipArt Stock Photos and Images. This Valentine's Day Cat is waving from his New York City store window down the block. It looks like he's having a great #Caturday, we hope you are too and Happy Valentine's Day :)

The day was first associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. In 18th-century England, it evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as "valentines").

Valentine's Day symbols that are used today include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid.

The Ed Sullivan Theater, located at 1697–1699 Broadway between West 53rd and West 54th, in the Theater District in Manhattan, is a venerable radio and television studio in New York City. The 1200-seat theater — of which 461 seats are used for TV audiences — has been used as a venue for live and taped CBS broadcasts since 1936.

It is best known as the longtime home of The Ed Sullivan Show and the site of the first U.S. Beatles performance. Since 1993, it has been the home of the Late Show with David Letterman and is on the list of National Register of Historic Places. The interior has been designated a landmark by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission.

The Beatles appeared on three consecutive Sundays in February 1964 to great anticipation and fanfare as "I Want to Hold Your Hand" had swiftly risen to No. 1 in the charts.

Looking south from the 72nd street traverse of Central Park New York City toward the Sheep Meadow the morning afer a large winter snow storm. These evergreens stand at the North boundary of the meadow. image/editing/sookietex More about this image and story at Public Domain Clip Art - http://publicdomainclip-art.blogspot.com/2014/02/winter-snow-storm-new-york-city.html

Sheep grazed the meadow until 1934, when Robert Moses, the city's parks commissioner, moved them to Prospect Park, Brooklyn, and then to the safety of the Catskill Mountains.

This path lies between The Dakota Apartments and Strawberry Fields on Manhattan's west side at 72nd street and Central Park West. The building was the home of former Beatle John Lennon. Strawberry Fields is a 2.5-acre landscaped section in New York City's Central Park dedicated to his memory.
