The Siege of Sevastopol Crimea lasted from September 1854 until September 1855, during the Crimean War. The allies French, Ottoman, and British landed at Eupatoria on September 14, 1854, intending to march to Sevastopol, the capital of the Crimea, with 50,000 men.

The 35 mile traverse took a year of fighting against the Russians.

Easter is a moveable feast, it is not fixed in relation to the civil calendar. The First Council of Nicaea (325) established the date of Easter as the first Sunday after the full moon, the Paschal Full Moon, following the March equinox.

Ecclesiastically, the equinox is reckoned to be on March 21st, although the astronomical equinox occurs on March 20th in most years, and the "Full Moon" is not necessarily on the astronomically correct date. The date of Easter therefore varies between 22 March and 25 April inclusive.

A hackney or hackney carriage (also called a cab, black cab, hack or London taxi) is a carriage or automobile for hire. A hackney of a more expensive or high class was called a remise. In England, the name hackney carriage today refers to a taxicab licensed by the Public Carriage Office in Greater London or by the local authority (non-metropolitan district councils or unitary authorities) in other parts of Great Britain, or by the Department of the Environment in Northern Ireland. In the United States, the police department of the city of Boston has a Hackney Carriage Unit, analogous to taxicab regulators in other cities, that issues Hackney Carriage medallions to its taxi operators.

London Taxi

Motorised hackney cabs in the UK, traditionally all black in London and most major cities, are traditionally known as black cabs (which they were), although they are now produced in a variety of colors, sometimes in advertising brand liveries. The 50 golden cabs produced for the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations in 2002 were notable.

A version of the Marathon was, during its production run, the taxicab of choice for New York City and many other American cities. The size of the car, seating many passengers, the robust construction, the lack of yearly changes to the styling, simplifying parts management, and the bolt-on rear quarter panels all contributed to the Marathon's ubiquity on the streets of Manhattan.

The "Checker", particularly the 1956–82 A8/Marathon, remains the most famous taxi cab vehicle in the United States. The vehicle is comparable to the London Taxi in its nationally renowned styling, which went unchanged throughout its use, and also for its iconic status.

The Oldsmobile 88 More about this image and story at Public Domain Clip Art - http://publicdomainclip-art.blogspot.com/2014/03/oldsmobile-rocket-88.html

(a.k.a. Eighty-Eight) was a full-size car sold by the Oldsmobile division of General Motors and produced from 1949 until 1999. From 1950 to 1974 the 88 was the division's top-selling line, particularly the entry-level models such as the 88 and Dynamic 88.

The 88 series was also an image leader for Oldsmobile, particularly in the early years (1949–51) when it was one of the best performing automobiles thanks to its relatively small size, light weight and advanced overhead-valve high-compression V8 engine originally designed for the larger C-bodied and more luxurious 98 series but it also replaced the straight-8 on the smaller B-bodied 78, creating what was considered the predecessor of Muscle cars of the 1960s.

Lion discovered at Arban Anunnaki, Sumerian, Assyrian, and Babylonian

Lion discovered at Arban, Anunnaki, Sumerian, Assyrian, and Babylonian. Public Domain ClipArt Stock Photos and Images. - In a few days a lion, with extended jaws, sculptured in the same coarse limestone, and in the same bold archaic style as the bulls was discovered by Sir Henry Austen Layard (1817-1894) (John Murray, 1853).

It had five legs, and the tail had the claw at the end, as in the Nineveh bas-reliefs. In height it was nearly the same as the bulls. The height of this fragment was 5 ft. 8 in. I searched in vain for the one which must have formed the opposite side of the doorway.

Discoveries in the ruins of Nineveh and Babylon; with travels in Armenia, Kurdistan and the desert: being the result of a second expedition undertaken for the Trustees of the British museum
