Science and Technology, Leitz-Wetzlar microscope

Leitz-Wetzlar microscope that Dr. Mountin used in medical school and early in his career as a physician. The Communicable Disease Center was organized in Atlanta, GA, on July 1, 1946. As a visionary public health leader, its founder, Dr. Joseph W. Mountin had high hopes for this small
and comparatively insignificant branch of the Public Health Service (PHS). This artifact can be seen at the Global Health Odyssey.
